FAQ
1. what is a "Look"?
A "look" is an image or character in which you are trying to translate to the casting director or anyone who is looking at your photos. Usually actors need a theatrical look, commercial look, business look, girl/guy next door look, comedy look, etc. Every time you change wardrobe is considered a different look. We will shoot a variety of expressions, frames and poses. If you're not certain which package is right for you, start thinking about how many different looks you need and feel free to contact the studio for a free consultation.
Please note: Special packages are available for fashion shoots, business groups, or other specific needs. Pricing for commercial/advertising, music, editorial and corporate use are given on a per-job basis. Any looks more than 5 is $50.00 per look.
2. what are your booking policies?
A deposit is required for booking a shoot. A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your appointment time: $100 for the 1-look package, $150 for the 3 and up look packages. Deposits can be made by mailing a check to the studio. Please call ahead before sending payment.
3. how do I pay you?
Your balance will be due in full on the day of the shoot. We accept cash or check for payments.
4. can I call you with my questions prior to the shoot?
Of course! I'd love to answer all your questions about the shoot and what to bring and expect to happen during the shoot via phone or email. All consultations are free of charge of course.
5. do I really need makeup?
it's really up to you, but if you're asking me i'd say: yes you do! unless you are a makeup artist yourself who acts also, you really don't know how to handle your makeup for a photoshoot. makeup artists have an understanding of light and colors and that's what enables them to make you look your best for the strong lights that are going to be blasting on you. same goes for hair... you can probably do a good job with your hair, but a makeup artist can enhance it for you.
6. what kinda equipment do you use?
for the past few years and the time being, I am a Canon guy. I use my 5D full frame (35mm 12.5 mega pixel) for the headshot shoots with my ever so favorite 100mm macro lens or sometimes a prime 85mm lens. I have found out that it works the best for me. I use speedotron strobes for the studio shoots. I shoot in RAW + Small JPG and work on the RAW ones for your retouch selections. I do all of my own post production work.
7. can I see the photos while we shoot?
that's a big yes! I have a 27" CRT in the studio and connect the camera to it while we shoot or in between shoots and look at the photos. I have noticed it helps people to become more relaxed and focused on what they need.
8. how soon can I see my photos online?
within 24-48 hours of the shoot, I will send you a private link under my website that will allow you to see all photos and forward the link for others (friends, managers, agents) to see and help you decide on which one(s) to have me retouch.
9. would this be fun?
that's a big yes, again! I absolutely love what I do. my love for photography and the work I do always transfers to people that I work with. I care deeply for my customers' satisfaction and comfort. I always go out of my way to make sure they are having a good time and having fun. a satisfied customer helps me produce great shots and after all, I am always after great shots as a photographer. so it's a win win scenario.
10. re-scheduling?
Your deposit is non-refundable. Rescheduling is allowed with a 1 week notice and (requires a $25 service fee. Rescheduling LESS than 1 week in advance is considered a cancellation and a new deposit will be required.
11. how about re-shoots?
There is no charge for re-shoots due to technical issues (equipment malfunction,
computer crash, etc.) Re-shoots requested for all other reasons will come with a 25%
discount. All re-shoot requests must be made within one week of the original shoot
date.
(Also please note: The photographer and stylist are available to recommend choices
for hair, makeup, wardrobe and your ‘Looks’, but the client always has the
final approval and responsibility for these decisions. No free re-shoots will be
given because of makeup, hair, or wardrobe choices. All re-shoots must be taken in
the same outfit as original shots.)
Since I provide the ability to view photos as we go in the studio, please speak up and let me know if you're not happy with the looks we're getting or don't think it's going to work for you. I always recommend my clients to come prepared as for what kind of looks they need or being used for by their agents or managers.
